THYMOGEN® is effective immunomodulator that normalizes the functions of the immune system. Strengthens weakened immunity and reduces an inadequately high immune response.
After a century and a half, peptide bioregulators have taken their place among medicines used in the treatment of a wide range of human diseases. Among them are peptide thymomimetics - drugs that have the properties of the thymus hormone and at the same time are not its fragments.
Thymogen (Oglufanide, Oglufanide, Thymogen, Timogen, IM-862, CAS 38101-59-6) is a short peptide consisting of only two amino acids: Glu-Trp (EW). This peptide is a drug registered in Russia in three different forms: as a solution for intramuscular administration with a concentration of 100 μg / ml (LS-002304-130911), as a metered-dose nasal spray containing 25 μg / dose (P N002408 / 01- 040210) and 0.05% cream for external use (LSR-003508 / 07-210319). Timogen is the product of joint research by scientists from Moscow and Leningrad under the leadership of Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. RAS V. Kh. Khavinson, obtained in the late 1980s, and since 1990, the peptide has been introduced into medical practice. In all dosage forms, Thymogen is used as an immunomodulatory agent for a wide range of purposes, which includes the prevention and treatment of viral and bacterial diseases of the upper respiratory tract, various infectious and inflammatory diseases, immunodeficiency conditions, including the consequences of chemotherapy and radiation therapy, suppression of regeneration and hematopoiesis, etc. .d. The effect of the drug is due to its ability to modulate humoral and cellular immunity, enhance the processes of regeneration and cellular metabolism of the body. In addition, Thymogen increases the expression level of lymphocyte differentiation receptors, normalizes the concentration and ratio of T-lymphocytes (CD3 +, CD4 + and CD8 +), stimulates the production of immunoglobulins IgA, IgG, IgE and IgM.
The active substance of Thymogen® is the monosodium salt of L-α-glutamyl-L-tryptophan. It is a synthetic dipeptide consisting of amino acid residues - glutamine and tryptophan. It is identical to a natural compound isolated by chromatography from an extract of the thymus (thymus gland) - an organ in which maturation, differentiation and immunological "training" of T cells of the immune system take place. Its international non-proprietary name (INN) is Oglufanidum (oglufanid). Alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan stimulates cellular factors of immunogenesis, proliferation and differentiation of T-lymphocyte precursors into mature immunocompetent cells, normalizes the ratio of T-helpers / T-suppressors, increases the concentration of cyclic adenosine monophosphate in T-lymphocyte precursors. Strengthens nonspecific resistance of the organism, promotes activation of phagocytic functions of neutrophils and monocytes / macrophages; stimulates interferonogenesis and natural killer cell function (in low doses). Possesses anti-mediator properties. Highly effective for immunodeficiencies of the T-suppressor type.
The main areas of application of various dosage forms of the drug Thymogen®:
- complex therapy of acute and chronic infectious and inflammatory diseases, accompanied by a decrease in the parameters of cellular immunity;
- prevention and complex therapy of acute and chronic respiratory diseases;
- prevention of suppression of immunity, hematopoiesis, regeneration processes in the post-traumatic and postoperative period, in the course of radiation therapy or chemotherapy, when using massive doses of antibiotics;
- prevention and complex therapy of viral (including acute respiratory infections and influenza), bacterial and chlamydial infections;
- in dermatology, for the complex therapy of atopic dermatitis, including those complicated by secondary bacterial infection, chronic true and microbial eczema, chronic pyoderma, mechanical, thermal and chemical injuries of the skin, etc.;
- in obstetric and gynecological practice.
MEDICAL AND BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION COMPLEX "CYTOMED" (MBNPK "CYTOMED")
MBNPK "Cytomed" is an innovative research and production pharmaceutical company. It was founded in 1989 for the development and introduction into medical practice of original medicinal products based on studies of the effect of peptides on the human body - special biologically active substances isolated from various organs and tissues of animals (brain, thymus and pineal glands, spleen, gastrointestinal intestinal tract, etc.).
