HEP-1 (Human Ezrin Peptide) is a tetradecapeptide synthetic immunomodulator with a molecular weight of 1818 Da and consisting of 14 amino acid residues: Thr-Glu-Lys-Lys-Arg-Arg-Glu-Thr-Val-Glu-Arg-Glu-Lys-Glu (= TEKKRRETVEREKE).
Application: HIV, hepatitis, STIs, herpes types 1 and 2, genital herpes, rabies, purulent infection, alcohol intoxication, salpingo-oophoritis, endometritis, lupus erythematosus, wound healing.
The peptide HEP-1 was developed by Dr. Rupert Donald Holms in the UK and patented in 1994 as a drug for the prevention and treatment of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and related diseases. Later HEP-1 was patented in the USA, Russia and other countries.
The mechanism of action HEP-1 lies in the ability to induce α- and β-interferons, inhibit inflammatory cytokines - peptide information molecules of the inflammatory response - and stimulate humoral immunity by acting on cells of the immune system. Due to this, HEP-1 has antiviral activity, the ability to activate local immunity and anti-inflammatory properties.

Method of application:
Peptides, proteins, enzymes and hormones produced in the human body have attracted the attention of researchers since their discovery due to their biological properties, potentially useful in pharmacology. Due to their natural origin and unique structure, these compounds are a priori highly active and toxicity is low or absent. It is natural that many such regulatory molecules and their derivatives are introduced into medical practice, and also serve as the basis for the development of synthetic drugs with similar or even improved properties, but much more accessible for large-scale production compared to natural substances.
Peptide substances are being introduced into our lives very actively. The main achievements in medicine, pharmacology, nanotechnology, cosmetology, dentistry, veterinary medicine, agriculture, food and other industries are associated with them.
Peptides are widely used due to the possibility of modeling their structure, high biological activity, minimal toxic and side effects, both directed and systemic action, high bioavailability, biodegradability and environmental friendliness, good solubility and low therapeutic dose. It is important to have efficient methods for the rapid synthesis of peptides to order with a high degree of purification. Knowledge of the features of physical properties allows you to isolate natural peptide and protein molecules from plant and animal raw materials.
